In-House Design & Manufacturing Capabilities
Portland Locomotive Works combines traditional model-making and machining skills with modern digital manufacturing technology. Our in-house capabilities allow us to develop specialized parts, complete kits and custom projects from concept through production.
Capabilities include: three laser systems for precision cutting and engraving; machine shop and CNC services; complete woodworking and milling facilities; 3D design and printing; prototype research and development; and custom model and kit development.
This combination allows PLW to work in wood, metal and modern 3D-printed materials, selecting the manufacturing method best suited to each project.
